Chain of Lakes Shaving Soap
Some call the scent of the tonka bean intoxicating. It is invigorating, and it tells a whole story in the combination of scents that make up its base. It includes vanilla, licorice, clove, caramel, and fresh-cut grass, with a hint of whiskey warmth.
When you match that heavenly bouquet of smells with a subtle hint of leather and a bit of musky undertone, you get a fresh, slightly woody, very mild scent that offers a respite for the senses and is reminiscent of the outdoors – like the freshness that comes after a storm.
Scent Profile
Chain of Lakes is a tribute to our hometown and the sprawling lake environment that echoes the same feelings of this shaving soap. Chain of Lakes Regional Park is a stunning, must-see outdoor recreational area of 5 lakes in Minneapolis. The forested outdoors meets the stillness of the lakes, and you feel that coming together of the fresh air, the calm water, and the woody wilderness – like this namesake soap.
The mellow but intoxicating scent was the winner of our double-blind scent polling at the prestigious Big Shave S'West expo in Chandler, AZ in 2019. The quality of the ingredients and the enchanting fragrance makes this shave soap a customer favorite.

How to Apply - In 4 Easy Steps
- First, either wet or soak your brush. If your shave brush is made of synthetic material, simply wet your brush in warm water. If you're a fan of badger, boar, or horsehair be sure to soak your brush for at least a few minutes in warm water. Oh, and don't forget to get rid of excess water. You don't want dripping!
- Next, swirl your shave brush in your soap container for a minimum of 20 seconds. You want your brush to be fully covered in soap. The goal is to achieve a paste-like consistency.
- Wet the area of your skin that needs shaving.
- Lastly, transfer your soap to your skin. The best way to do this is by using a scrubbing motion until your skin is covered with a full lather. It's ok to add a small amount of water every now and then to your brush. This will help with coverage.
